Middle School

Our Middle School programs, open to grades 6-8, aim to introduce the fundamentals of rowing while fostering a love for the sport and teamwork.

About

Our Middle School programs introduce students to rowing at a pace appropriate to their age. At DC National, we cultivate an energetic and supportive environment, nurturing a passion for rowing that seamlessly transitions into our competitive high school programs.

We provide year-round programming for Middle Schoolers, including Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer seasons.

Developmental

Our Developmental Middle School program is tailored to teaching young athletes the fundamental aspects of rowing in a supportive and inclusive environment. With sessions twice a week, participants will receive expert coaching to develop a solid foundation in rowing technique, water safety, teamwork skills, as well as build fitness and discipline. Whether you're exploring a new sport or curious about rowing for the first time, our Developmental program offers the perfect opportunity to experience being on the water and grow as a young athlete. Come try rowing with DC National today!

Advanced

Our Advanced Middle School program is for 8th-grade rowers with at least one season of on-water experience whop want to elevate their skills and training. Rower's are invited to participate based on a coach's recommendation. With sessions held five days a week alongside our high school team, participants have the opportunity to enhance their technical skills and fitness. This program supports rowers who are ready to begin transitioning to high school-level commitment and competition. The Advanced program's intensive training environment focuses on building endurance, refining technical skills, fostering a competitive mindset, and preparing participants for success in competitive rowing.

Winter Training

Our middle school winter training focuses on developing fundamental rowing skills while fostering teamwork and a love for the sport. Participants build strength, endurance, and coordination through rowing machine sessions, bodyweight exercises, and skill-based activities. The program emphasizes fun, learning, and skill development, providing a foundation for future growth—whether progressing towards sport excellence or staying active for life.
